Captain’s Cookies for Christmas



December has come and most likely quite a number of us are thinking of what to give our friends during the holiday season. Here’s a suggestion for you, you can make your own cookies and daintily box them as gifts this Christmas! Read on and see how you can make them with utensils and equipment you might already have at home. No need for electric mixers or convection ovens!


Captain’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

what you will need…

Cookies Ingredients

  • 1 bar of butter (225g)
  • 1/3 Kilo of washed sugar (up to 350g or 1 and 1/2 cup)
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1/3 Kilo of All Purpose flour (about 2 cups)
  • 1 Tbsp of baking powder
  • 100 g of instant oats (about 1 and 1/2 cup)
  • 100 g of mini chocolate chips (about 1 cup)







First you have to soften the butter with a wooden spoon.









Then add the sugar.









Cream butter and sugar together thoroughly.









it has to have this consistency.









Break eggs onto a separate bowl.









Whisk lightly.









Slowly add the eggs on a steady stream while beating the butter sugar mixture.









It will have this consistency.









Now you can add the flour…









…and a tablespoon of Baking Powder

Continue to cream the mixture








until you get this consistency.











then add the oats.

Mix until creamy.

Gently stir in chocolate chips.









your cookie dough should look like this.













You’re all set to bake them!














You will only need a toaster for this.







There are two ways to portion the cookies.

This is the first one:



rub butter onto a pan or foil you will use to bake inside the toaster.









use 2 spoons for this method. Spoon out a portion of the dough.









with the use of another spoon, shape the portion into a ball










then place them on a buttered pan or foil.








arrange cookie balls at least 2 inches apart.








with the back of the spoon, slightly flatten them on the foil before baking.





Here is the second way to portion the cookie dough.






line the work surface with a square cut foil. scoop out about 1/3 of the cookie dough and carefully lay it on the foil.

use the foil to roll it into a tube.










twist the ends to secure the dough tightly. You have to refrigerate this at least an hour before baking.

once the dough is set, place the cookie tube on a cutting board.


cut out about 1 cm thick discs then place them on buttered pan or foil.







arrange discs at least an inch apart

you can set the upper and lower heat on medium and bake/toast for at least 5 minutes for chewy cookies and up to 7-9 minutes for crispy toasted cookies. Cookie texture is up to your preference.
