The birthday girl is a fan of a TV show from HBO called Game of Thrones, it’s a surprise gift from her friend. The main theme is Arya and the Hound because of all the characters in the series, Arya is her favorite.
The cake is chocolate. Coated with her favorite color. Includes 2 figurines. The figures were made four hours before delivery. Completed about an hour before traveling. Just enough time to let them set before they arrive at the birthday girl’s doorstep.
There are 10 cupcakes included, each cupcake has an emblem of one houses in the series. Zenithlen’s favorite is the Targaryen sigil. Gameophilia is fascinated with the Greyjoy’s kraken, which is also the birthday girl’s most-shown cupcake, even though she isn’t a fan of the Greyjoys! The cupcake banner toppers took about three hours to finish using pre-colored Captain’s Fondant. Thank goodness for the sharp stencil cutter that we used. It provided the fine lines we needed to achieve the look of the banners.
As we are Game of Thrones fans ourselves, the TV version because we have yet to find time to read all wonderful books about Westeros, we wanted to give as much nod to the story as possible. When we learned that Alex’s favorite character is Arya, we thought of what is going on in the series at that very week we were conceptualizing it. Her Water Dance stuck in our minds and we figured why not use that as inspiration? So Sandor Clegane, more famously known as the Hound, came into the picture. And of course he had to be in his armor.
The birthday girl wanted the message to be put on the cake, and definitely that will be her answer to the god of death. Message is written using edible ink markers on pre-set Captain’s Fondant. We had to write it very light-handed as the sheet was still slightly soft.
We are so glad we made her feel extra special on her “name day”. Even more ecstatic to learn that these were enjoyed down to their tummies.
because… CAKES ARE MEANT TO BE EATEN!!!
